GOOP   nourish the inner aspect

Okay Gwyneth, I am ready. Gwyneth’s (is-her-surname-really-necessary?) new site, GOOP is
where you can: make…go…get…do…be…see GP’s personal experiences in her personally
busy, busy red-carpet life. Here you can regress and enjoy the helpful self-help process.

In GP’s own words:
“My life is good because I am not passive about it. I want to nourish what is
real, and I want to do it without wasting time…GOOP is a little bit of everything that makes up
my life…make your life good…don’t be lazy…GOOP… make it great.”

I want to stand up straight and salute. “Yes M’am! I’ll never be lazy again. I’m ready to be a
home-maker-millionaire celebrity. Pass the pink gingham pinny and turkey baster.”

This week the omnipresent GP is simply so excited to be sharing this caring newsletter imparting
the thrill of Thanksgiving tips; her favourite holiday.

To quote the ‘sage’ herself:
Thanksgiving is, without a doubt, my favorite holiday. I love when
everyone comes together and celebrates the idea of gratitude, something we all mean to do
every day, but seem to lose sight of most of the time. I also love the cooking –
the days of
planning and chopping and
basting. This year, I decided to work out three variations on the
traditional meal: a big group, a small gathering and a cozy dinner for two.

15 cups of 1/2˝ bread cubes (I usually have challah, wholegrain and ciabatta
in my bread bin)

Turkey will always be the main event of Thanksgiving (at least in my house!)

Why should things be any less festive if dinner is just for two? I came up with these stuffed
turkey burgers which were
a giant hit in my house.

(you could even leave it in your sauté pan if it doesn’t have plastic handles –
one less thing to
wash!
)...(now’s a good time to work on your other Thanksgiving dishes!).

Cranberries are full of antioxidants and their recognizably tart flavor
is a must at any
Thanksgiving table.

This is a classic gravy that really benefits from using all parts of the turkey – everything from
the neck to the sticky browned bits at the bottom of the roasting pan. Don’t throw any of that
stuff away,
it’s like gold!

Brussels sprouts…don’t give into the temptation to stir and toss them! Delish!

The dried cranberries, goat cheese and walnuts make it perfect for any festive occasion or any
day for a
tasty light lunch.”

All a bit mystifying this enthusiastically-earnest-cheerleader-life-style advice with GP’s latest I-am-
so-sexy-I-am-so-cool-I-am-so-not-macrobiotic-I-am-so-not-with-what’s-his-name anymore image
in every tabloid, broadsheet, weekly/monthly magazine. Ciabatta in her bread bin. Really?

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel this overwhelming desire to read this 50’s inspired newsletter in big
pink curlers and furry bunny slippers while waiting for my nails to dry in my perfect virtual
exclamation-marked world.

Back to reality. After successfully suppressing my gag reflex, I am now so motivated. I simply
must pop out to find the nearest turkey farm in Notting Hill to search for the turkey I feel a karmic
connection to, one which is willing to give up its short life so that my dear ones can celebrate
Gwyneth’s favourite holiday, chop its little head off, pluck it, throw it over my shoulder and bring it
on home to my waiting family, waiting friends or waiting cosy partner. I foresee home-made
turkey twizzlers on Tuesday. Delish! ‘
GOOP What makes life good!!!

Next week look for how to create your own Stepford Wives’ Jamboree.
